How did I stumbled upon growing my own vegatable garden?

My mom & I went shopping and strolled down the aisle that contains the DIY craft kits for kids.  We found a herb garden kit that I thought my son would enjoy.  My mom then said that she has garden pots and soil.  So we decided to look at the different seeds and get some seeds that Ace would enjoy watching grow.  We decided on red currant tomatoes, bush sugar baby watermelon, peppers, and marigolds.

Once we get home, I'm excited to show Ace his gift.  We get everything ready and go out back and start planting.  The pots are big, so each pot we put the whole packet of seeds into it.  The flower one we split into two.  When we put ALL the seeds in, I was not expecting but maybe 1 or 2 plants to grow.  Boy, was I wrong!!  The tomatoes I can't count them all, but there is about 30 plants, and the peppers and the watermelon have about 16 plants each.

The question now, is what am I going to do with these plants?  I can't leave them where they are, and I'm not digging up the dirt.  The dirt is almost comparable to concrete to how hard it is.  So I began looking at raised gardens.  While researching raised gardens, I stumble across square foot garden.  It looks fun, I'm still researching it.  If all goes well this year, I think it could be something that I could really get into.  It will get me outside, teach my son responsibility- he is the "water boy", and provide us with extra veggies.

Once I figured it all out, I will post pics and try to explain how I started my square foot garden.

Welcome!!!

I am new to the blogging world.  I think this could be a fun and easy way to share my views on various subjects.  Since I have became a mother, I have realized I am a semi-crunchy mama.  Go figure, huh?  I am a proud breastfeeding mama.  I started cloth diapering my daughter, which I did not do with my first.  I have even started making my own cloth diapers.

My goal for this blog is just to share my views and provide information from my point of view.  So welcome and enjoy!!!
